
Bojana Novakovic born circa 1981, is a Serbian-Australian actress.
Novakovic moved from Yugoslavia with her parents to Australia when she was seven years old. Fluent in the Serbian language, Novakovic works as a professional translator for the theatre and film industries between acting assignments. Novakovic originally wanted to become a social worker or doctor. Her passion for acting was sparked at age twelve, when she appeared in her first play. At age fifteen, she was cast in her first film.
Her film credits include Blackrock, Strange Fits of Passion, Solo, The Monkey’s Mask, Thunderstruck, the Serbian movie Optimisti, Drag Me to Hell, Edge of Darkness and Devil. Some of her many theatre credits are Criminology, Eldorado, The Female of The Species, Death Variations, Loveplay, Away and Romeo and Juliet, and her television credits include Satisfaction, The Cooks, Wildside, Water Rats, Heartbreak High and Murder Call.
In 2003 Novakovic played Randa in the ABC mini-series Marking Time, a role which won her an AFI Award for Best Actress in a leading role in a Television Drama or Comedy.
Novakovic has also performed on the stage, starring in Tamarama Rock Surfers production of Gogol’s Diary of a Madman, directed by Simon Lyndon.
Novakovic studied at The McDonald College in Sydney (where she was Dux of 1998), and graduated from NIDA in 2002. She was also a gymnast, and works extensively with refugees in Australia.
She already knew Abe Forsythe, her co-star in Marking Time, as an old classmate from their primary school days.
Her sister is actress Valentina Novakovic, who plays Natasha Williams on Neighbours.
