2010 Porsche Boxster

The 2010 Porsche Boxster is largely unchanged. Boxster is a 2-seat convertible that shares a basic design with Porsche’s Cayman 2-seat hatchback coupe. All have front and rear cargo bays and horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engines. Boxster reprises a standard power-folding fabric top with heated-glass rear window and comes two ways.

The base model has a 255-horsepower 2.9-liter engine, the S a 310-horsepower 3.4-liter. Both models offer a 6-speed manual transmission or Porsche’s 7-speed “PDK” double-clutch automated manual that behaves much like an automatic. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and front-side airbags. A navigation system is optional, as is Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package with a dashboard stopwatch and sensors that modify throttle, traction, and suspension systems to suit racetrack-type driving. Also available is Porsche Active Suspension Management, basically special shock absorbers with driver-selectable normal and sport settings. Other options include carbon-ceramic brakes, a sport exhaust system, a fixed cockpit wind blocker, automatic climate control, heated and ventilated seats, and a wireless cell-phone link.
